Last month, we celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Give Miami Day with The Miami Foundation - and what a celebration it was! More than 400 members of the community showed their dedication to clean water by donating over $124,000 - and the first $15,000 of that was matched by the Charlesmead Foundation!

Protect Florida's Wetlands
Florida's wetlands are under threat without full federal protections. We're working with Earthjustice and a coalition of environmental protection organizations across the state to restore wetlands protections that were removed in early January 2021. Click here to contact Florida's federal representatives to tell them to urge the EPA to reinstate these protections to protect the water we love.
Tell the County Commission to Hold the Line
The Urban Development Boundary confines urban sprawl to protect the Everglades. However, a proposed industrial complex threatens to breach the Boundary. You can tell the County Commission to vote NO on the development. Click here to tell our commissioners to Hold the Line and protect our wetlands and our water.

Miami-Dade Goes Plastic Free
The Miami-Dade County Commission passed a resolution to create a Plastic Free 305 program that will recognize and support businesses that eliminate single-use plastics from their operations. Kudos to Debris Free Oceans for leading this effort.
The Miami Beach City Commission prioritized its #PlasticFreeMB sustainability initiative by stopping to reevaluate its Coca-Cola contract renewal, which would have required the city to purchase 22,500 products in single-use plastic bottles per year for the next 10 years. Kudos to VolunteerCleanup.org for leading this effort.
SACS Technical Comment Letter
The Army Corps of Engineers is submitting a report called the South Atlantic Coastal Study (SACS) to Congress alongside their recommendations to address coastal storm damage and sea-level rise. We submitted a technical comment letter to the Army Corps sharing science-backed feedback on the draft of the report, which include both agreements with some recommendations and suggested revisions for others. Junior Ambassadors
